ARRIVAL TIMES

Information about the location

The Baja Station has two areas: The Station (Tiny House 1 + 2, Camper, Tent, Bus) and the Ranch House (King Room, Queen Room, Palapa & bunks). The Ranch House can be booked as one unit - or the rooms can be seperately booked.

How to get there

- Rental Car: the best way to get around the East Cape is with a rental car. The East Cape road from San Jose is paved until the last 5km, which is dirt. There are no gas stations after San Jose, so ensure your tank is full.

- Taxi / Uber: You can order an Uber to La Fortuna during the day, but it’s rare after dark, and no Ubers operate from La Fortuna back to San Jose. Alternatively, we can arrange a private driver for about 1500 pesos one way.

Once in La Fortuna, you can walk to surf breaks, bars, and the village shop. However, a vehicle is needed to visit other surf spots like Shipwrecks or Nine Palms, or you can book a guided trip with us.

There is free parking available in front of the property.

Please note: there is no service in the area

- Is there parking available?
Yes, there is free parking available in front of the property.

- Are pets allowed?
Yes, pets are very welcome (on the condition they are social and behave with other pets)

- Is The Baja Station off-grid?
Yes. The Baja Station is fully off-grid, located in the desert on the East Cape. We run on solar power and water tanks. This is part of the experience and philosophy of the project. While we have hot showers, fans, refrigeration and fast Starlink internet, occasional hiccups can happen, we’re always around to help if something needs attention.

- Will there be wildlife or insects?
You may encounter insects, mosquitoes, birds, lizards, and other desert wildlife. This is normal for the area. We recommend bringing insect repellent and keeping doors/screens closed when possible.

- Are there restaurants nearby?
There are a few local places in La Fortuna, but options are limited and opening hours are not always reliable, especially outside weekends or high season. Our restaurant serves coffee and breakfast and there is a little store on walking distance. If you’re traveling on a budget or prefer flexibility, we strongly recommend doing groceries in San José del Cabo before arriving.

- Do the accommodations have kitchens?
Yes, expect for the tent. All our stays include access to a fully equipped kitchen, with:
    - Stove & oven
    - Fridge & freezer
    - Cooking utensils
    - Dining space

- Is this a good place for solo travelers?
Absolutely! This stay is perfect for travelers who enjoy a social, laid-back atmosphere and don’t mind sharing energy with others. It’s not the best fit if you’re looking for complete seclusion or total silence. Please note that on Sundays, the space often hosts cultural events such as live music, jam sessions, yoga classes, workshops, talks, and film screenings. This only impacts the TIny Houses. The ranch house is a bit further from the common areas.

- Is this a good place if I want convenience and nightlife?
The Baja Station is best suited for guests who enjoy nature, simplicity, community, and a slower rhythm. If you’re looking for constant nightlife, shops, or hotel-style services, this may not be the right fit.

- I booked the ranch house. Is this a private housing?
If you booked the entire Ranch House, then yes — it’s fully private and only for your group. If you booked a room inside the Ranch House, then the house is shared with a small number of other guests, while your bedroom remains private. Just to clarify as well: our café is located in a separate area of the property, about a 1-minute walk away, so it doesn’t affect the privacy or quiet of the Ranch House.
