Baja California’s East Cape is one of the world’s premier destinations for observing humpback whales in their natural habitat. During their winter migration, these magnificent creatures fill the waters off our coastline, engaging in spectacular displays as they mate and calve.
Unlike the bustling waters of Cabo San Lucas and San José, the East Cape remains tranquil and uncrowded, allowing for a more intimate whale-watching experience—often with the whales all to ourselves.
Our 14ft panga, designed to carry up to 4 passengers, is perfect for launching directly from the beach in La Fortuna. Its small size and maneuverability, combined with our eco-conscious approach, enable us to get closer to the whales without causing them stress.
Your captain, Gio, brings a wealth of expertise to the tour. With a degree in Marine Biology specializing in underwater acoustics and marine mammal communication, he offers fascinating insights into the behavior of these gentle giants. Equipped with a hydrophone, he’ll allow you to hear the enchanting songs of the whales. Additionally, with 12 years of experience as a captain aboard luxury sailing yachts around the globe, Gio ensures you’re in capable and knowledgeable hands.
We adhere strictly to international whale-watching guidelines to minimize disturbance to the whales. By maintaining slow speeds, turning off the engine when close to the whales, and respecting their space, we often enjoy remarkably close and personal encounters.
Our tours typically depart around 8:00 AM, taking advantage of the calm morning seas, though we may head out later in the day if conditions permit. Each tour lasts approximately three hours and includes complimentary drinks and snacks.
In the unlikely event you don’t spot any whales or if a tour is canceled due to weather, we’ll gladly reschedule your trip at no extra cost for the next available date.
Join us for an unforgettable experience with these majestic creatures in their serene East Cape sanctuary. Book your whale-watching adventure today!
