EXPERIENCES

JOIN OUR SURFCAMP

Join us this summer for an all-inclusive surf retreat on the East Cape of Baja California Sur. Based right in front of the wave at La Fortuna, The Baja Station is the only budget-friendly beach lodge in Baja. Your off-grid base for surf, nature, and community.

This unique experience includes airport transfers, rustic & artistic accommodation, healthy meals, and guided surf sessions to remote, uncrowded waves, all with local knowledge and four-wheel-drive access. With warm water, consistent summer swells, and an easy rhythm of sunrise sessions and afternoon missions, it’s the perfect escape for intermediate to advanced surfers.

WHERE TO FIND US?

The best way to get around the East Cape is with a rental car. The East Cape road from San Jose is paved until the last 5km, which is dirt. There are no gas stations after San Jose, so ensure your tank is full. Driving at night is risky due to unlit roads and animals; drive slowly.

Without a rental, you can urder an Uber to La Fortuna during the day, but it’s rare after dark, and no Ubers operate from La Fortuna back to San Jose. Alternatively, we can arrange a private driver for about 1500 pesos one way.

Once in La Fortuna, you can walk to surf breaks, bars, and the village shop. However, a vehicle is needed to visit other surf spots like Shipwrecks or Nine Palms, or you can book a guided trip with us.

PSA: please don’t drive on the beaches to help save and protect nesting turtles 🙏🏽

I went on a whale watching tour with Gio (the owner of the Station) a few weeks ago and had an amazing time. There are no other boats around and Gios boat is quite small which made for a very intimate and wonderful experience. We spotted so many humpback whales and got really close to a mom and calf sleeping and also a heat run of males. Gio is very knowledgable and provided us with a lot of information about the whales and their behaviour. The Station seems like a beautiful space to hang out, the coffee was very good.
I would recommend going on a tour with Gio.

Such a great space to hangout, meet cool people and enjoy the vibes! The cafe is super cute with a view of the ocean, good coffee and cheap beer. It is right on the ocean and waking up to a beautiful sunrise and almost always a humpback whale was an unforgettable experience. The accommodations are affordable and well kept and every Sunday there is incredible music at the jam sessions. Really really enjoyed my experience at the Baja Station!
